Shhh, The Garden is Sleeping.

I stopped by the garden today. Things look as they should for early February. But we know, once spring arrives in about 6 weeks there will be much to do and see. In the meantime, we look for signs of renewal in the middle of winter. And get a few of those winter chores done while all is quiet. Apple pruning has begun, and we will be here next week for the annual rose pruning.

Beds have been mulched for the winter and cover crops are planted.
Roses are waking up
Rosemary blooms early in the year. Love the tiny purple flowers.
This is a beet planted last season,  we are hoping will go to seed this spring.

Sweet asters in the grass are a reminder of the renewal of spring.
