Soggy Spring

You can hear just about everyone around here talking/discussing/complaining about the weather we have had this winter & spring.  Something like 7/10 days have included some sort of rain since October.  Needless to say, it's a bit soggy out there right now.

But the plants in our garden seem completely  unfazed by it all. They just keep doing what they do best - growing and amazing us with each leaf, bud and bloom!

I took the following pictures over the past few weeks.  There is nothing like fresh new leaves and the first blooms of the season!

Enjoy, and get out in your own garden, rain or shine!  You will be glad you did.

We fertilized the Rhubarb early on, and it's now rewarding us with these interesting blooms.

Pretty Flowering Current Blooms

It wouldn't be spring in the garden without our Columbines!

The Gooseberry is very vigorous this year.

Gooseberries are forming right now, so pretty.

Apple blossoms flecked with rain.

Someone is eating the onions we left for seed, but the plant doesn't seem to mind.  There are still globes forming on the stalks.

In a few weeks the rose bushes with be full of colorful blooms, but for now I am pretty excited about the fuzzy buds forming on the moss roses.

Old Cardinal rose.

A favorite, the Harison's Yellow put blooms in a row along the cane, causing the can to arc gracefully away from the plant.

Newly renovated herb garden.

Grape Hyacinth growing along the fence.
